Blanket day

I am excited I know it's kinda lame but I have no reason to go outside today and it's cold and icy so I am glad. I found these cute pictures of my kids. They are so attached to their blankets. I think it's cute. Siena for th longest time would walk around with 2 blankets. The last couple months she has gone down to one only. Ben gets so excited when he wakes up and we come and get him, then he reaches down and grabs his blanket and waits for us to lift him out of his crib. So now his blanket is with him constantly and sometimes he forgets it and then he will be playing and will see his blanket and he will go over to it and hug it and get this huge smile on his face. His thumb and blanket both have to be in his mouth. Too cute. Now I am going to curl up with my blanket and take a nap!
( Siena's is an old picture but I thought it was funny. it's always there by her side.)

Snow Finally!

Dave and I like watching the weather channel. Usually the local news is pretty off on the weather. I saw that it showed snow for the whole week. I said I bet you it snows one time this week and that's it. Good thing for me he didn't bet me. We woke up to a little snow yesterday and a lot of snow today. So Ben finally got to see his first snowfall. He didn't like it so much. He started walking in it but then he decided he didn't like it so he cried. It was sad. Siena LOVED it. After preschool she didn't want to come home so I had to bribe her with making a snowman if she came home. She's so funny, she got some snow from the preschool house that we were at and she wanted to take it home. She didn't seem to care that it was melting in her hand the whole way home. It didn't make it home. We have a picture of her and daddy building her first snowman a couple years ago and she went to the same place as she built the snowman with daddy and wanted me to build her one there. It was a pretty small snowman but she was satisfied. Then later I found our one pair of snowpants and they were 12 mo but they looked big enough and they actually still fit her. My little girl. She has been wearing them all day and won't take them off. Ben was getting cold and thats the only reason I got her to come in. It was beautiful snow this morning, nice and fluffy and now it is raining so it will either melt or ice over. So sad. Snow doesn't last very long around here.

Fun pictures

pre school friends dancing. Ben wishing he could join them.
Snack time on our Island that we made and caught fish (goldfish) for snack. I don't know why we are learning about Islands and beaches in the middle of January. Wishful thinking I guess.
messy Ben after dinner

I just love the crazy things Siena puts together. Where does she get this from?

S is for Siena... or Spunky

Siena finally recognizes some of her letters. Especially the letter S and whenever she finds it she thinks it is her name and that whatever it is it belongs to her. We taught her to spell her name by singing the BINGO song because it works for the number of letters in her name but she still says at the end that she is Spunky and not Siena. I guess it does start with a S too. The first day of pre school I went and picked her up and Angela said that she called herself Spunky the whole time. She asked if that was ok and I said yes, that is our life now. We have no Siena just Spunky. A while back we asked the Dr. if this was o.k. and she said that it was perfectly normal so we hope it is and that it will stop someday.

Joy school and coupons!

Today was one of the best mornings! Siena started joy school, basically a co op preschool with 3 other kids from church. The moms take turns teaching, so I teach every 4 weeks. It's wonderful and Siena LOVED it. I have never seen her so excited! We had a great morning and she was ready to go. While she was there I went shopping with one kid to Kohls. It was so nice. Me and my friend had some Kohls coupons. My great finds. I just added up my total and I got $206. worth of things (clothes and toys...don't worry Dave it's not just for our kids) and I spent $22.20! I am amazing! I am so excited. Yeah for ebay coupons.

New favorite pastime

ring sling

new sling I made for myself..reversible!

warm grey fleece carseat cover

reversible purse, with pockets. (thanks Cheryl I used your fabric)

I get bored easily and have realized all the downtime I have spent just watching t.v. so I have found a new love of sewing. All the people around me know that Ben loves his sling. He lives in that thing. I have found a way to make them and I love it. I have even sold a couple! yeah! My mother in law has lots of fun patterns and I borrowed them for a while and have been experimenting. I have made a ring sling, a purse and a baby carseat cover. I love it. It has been so much fun and it's fun to see the end product. It's also a great escape from my children. I think I got so much done during the holidays because Dave was around and took care of the kids while I sewed. It's very theraputic for me. My neighbor and I want to set up a sewing afternoon once a week while the kids nap so we can get all our sewing stuff out and work on projects that aren't finished. I have so many of them. So I am really proud of the stuff I have made. I am all set for baby showers. So if you are having a baby and inviting me to your shower you may get a baby sling! or if you just want a sling let me know. (I know shameless plug)

Haircuts!

After

Before it doesn't look as long as it was but it covered his ears.

After

Before. The back was even longer than the front and it was always tangly.

Siena will turn 3 the beginning of March and I thought she atleast needed a haircut before her 3rd birthday. She does have a lot of hair. So we started with Siena and went to Ben and then Dave had one too. Start the new year off with a fresh look. I really like Siena's. I cut about an inch off all around. It makes it more curly now. It's right below her shoulders. I held back on cutting bangs for her. I really wanted to but was too scared to do it. I put her in the high chair and said we were going to have a hair salon party. She had no idea what I was doing. At the end of it I showed her that I cut some hair off but I tried to emphasize that only mommies do this. She did get scissors for Christmas so hopefully she won't take them to her hair. Then Bens turn. He was really hard to cut even though it was hardly anything to take off. It was a little off the top so now I can spike it again and around the ears which was tricky. He moved around way too much. He was busy eating crackers in the high chair until he felt me comb his hair which he hates and then he would grab at me. It's done now and we didn't have any cuts! Look at my cute kids.
