11 pm... and still going

I had to write this to vent and to see if other people have the same issue. It seems lately that there is no resting time. It was 10:30 last night and both kids were up in thier rooms somewhat happy, but still wide awake. I have discovered that Siena takes too long of an afternoon nap, but I am not ready for her to stop napping all together, so she doesn't fall asleep till 10-11. It's really frustrating but as long as she is happy and quiet up there. Then Ben was ready to be fed again, but it was a busy night. One of my least favorite things to do is put the laundry away and that was the last thing to do before I could call it a night. I am fine with washing the clothes I just hate folding them and putting them away so I finally decided to do it. Remember it's 10:30 at night so I am a little crazy at this time of night trying to finish up everything so I can wake up happy and to a clean house. So I decided to time how long it took me to fold the laundry and put it away. It only took me 20 minutes! It's so sad that I had been procrastinating it all day when it only took 20 minutes of my day to do. So if you need motivation to do something, time yourself doing it and it will make it seem like it goes by faster!

I don't know if you've heard of Flylady, but on her website she recommends setting a timer for 15 minutes, because you can do anything for 15 minutes, no matter how painful. When the timer goes off, you can stop what you're doing. Funny thing is, most of the time you're close to being done by then. Your story reminds me of her.

About bed times and no rest, I think everybody goes through that. Just in the last year, I had a friend call one morning when I hardly slept at all and was feeling miserable. She asked if she could do anything for me, like take Spencer off my hands for the day so I could sleep, and I said, no, could you just come help me clean my house? Because even without Spencer, I knew I wouldn't rest if my house was a mess. So with her help, we got the kitchen all clean, floors swept, mopped, vaccuumed, etc. I felt so good afterward. Of course, now I owe her a huge favor, but I will be happy to reciprocate anytime.

Wish I were there -- I'd come help put laundry away for you..
